7/12/2020

Greece extended part of the lockdown restrictions until the first week of the new year. The night curfew will remain in place and so will the prohibition of moving from regional unit of primary residence to another regional unit. The ban on rallies is extended, while working online is maintained at the same rates.

Government spokesman announced that schools, courts, restaurants, recreation and sports activities, including ski resorts, will remain closed until January 7, 2021. The government will announce a road-map on the gradual opening of churches, retail shops and hair salons later in the week.

«With such a large number of intubated and occupied Intensive Care Unit beds, the pressure on the National Health system remains, and under these circumstances, any return to normalcy will be slower, gradually and safely» the Government spokesman added. Earlier, the Health Minister, who so far would not see any problem in the health system and the hospitals, admitted the pressure on the hospitals and that 85% of ICU beds were occupied.

Travelers to Greece

The government spokesman also announced measures regarding travelers returning to Greece from abroad that will be in effect from 18/12/2020 until 7/01/2021.

For all travelers is requested to carry a negative molecular Covid-19 test carried out 72 hours before arrival and complete a Passenger Location Form. An additional measure will be a 10-day preventive quarantine.

Travelers will also be subject to Rapid Tests upon entry, Petsas reportedly said.
